What are the origins of Afro Rumba?
Born among black slaves on sugar plantations, Cuba's rumba is a dance of seduction.
Afro-Cuban rumba has its roots in the blending of African, Spanish, and indigenous influences during colonial Cuba. It's a significant part of Cuban culture, rich with history and tradition.
In this lesson, you'll encounter terms like 'Palo,' 'Eleggua,' or 'Oya.' These terms represent a specific dance movement , each with its own story or significance. We believe it's important to share this cultural background with our students, so we'll delve into these topics during the lesson.
